The Uttar Pradesh Film Policy, 2023 supersedes the 2018 policy and covers feature films, web series, documentaries, and shows shot substantially in Uttar Pradesh, plus film city, studio, and post-production infrastructure. It is administered by the Information & Public Relations Department through UP Film Bandhu, which is also the single-window for shooting permissions.

Key incentives

Production grant/subsidy: a percentage of production cost, with an absolute cap
Enhanced grant: a higher rate where a defined proportion of the film is shot in UP, UP artists/technicians are employed, or the film is in a regional language or on a UP theme
Tourism/culture bonus: additional support for films promoting UP tourism or culture
Regional-language bonus: enhanced support for Bhojpuri, Awadhi, Braj, and Bundeli-language cinema
Infrastructure support: for film studios, post-production facilities, and the International Film City project (Sector 21, YEIDA area, Gautam Buddh Nagar)
